Proxmox-Backup.org is a fan site about Proxmox Backup Server. We are not the official developers of the software and we have no connection with Proxmox Server Solutions GmbH — we are simply a group of enthusiasts who use the product every day and enjoy writing about it.
We are a small, independent team of system administrators, DevOps engineers and technical writers. Between us we manage everything from homelab clusters with two machines to production environments that protect hundreds of virtual machines. Proxmox Backup Server has been our backup platform of choice for years, and this site is our way of giving something back to the community that helped us learn it.
The project started the way most fan projects do: one of us kept answering the same questions in forums and chat channels — how deduplication really behaves, which retention schedules make sense, how to plan off-site sync. Instead of repeating ourselves, we decided to collect that knowledge in one place. Today the site carries a growing guide section, the story of the software and honest, experience-based notes about running it in real environments.
Every article on this site is tested before it is published. When we describe a backup strategy or a restore procedure, we run it on our own equipment first — usually more than once, because backups deserve paranoia. We revisit older pages regularly, since Proxmox Backup Server develops quickly and details change between versions.
If you want to suggest a topic, report an error or just share your own experience with the software, the contact form below is the fastest way to reach us. We read every message and usually reply within a couple of days.
